« NOMADS² CYCLING ODYSSEY | PART 1 : NORWAY > TANZANIA » accounts for the discoveries made and adventures endured during the first stage, half of this ambitious cycling odyssey : 21,000 kilometres on a bicycle from Norway’s fjords to Tanzania’s fabled Zanzibar on the lookout for Saami, Rom, Yörük, Bedouin, Afar, Hamer, Banna, Karo, Dassanech, Turkana, Pokot, Samburu, Maasai, Twa Pygmy, Barabaig, Datoga, and Hadza nomadic peoples! Authors of the expedition and the multimedia documentary, we perform the live narration while gripping images unfold on the screen, both photos and videos, with the support of an original score composed by Montreal-based recording artist Martin Tremblay, sound samples taken in the field, animated maps, and graphics. The full-length presentation lasts about 2 ½ hours and include a 15-minute intermission. The privileged approach, as for all other media components of our project, is to use the trek, adventure as a pretext to “spread the word” about places we go, show how local people live and depict their physical environment; use expedition anecdotes to tie down data harvested on local culture and nature, how these two interact, influence each other. With all this in mind, we created an expedition account that is highly educative, inspirational and entertaining…the anecdotes collected during the 21-month and 21,000 kilometre mega-mountain bike trek amidst this eclectic and exotic collection of destinations sure compose a vertiginous roller coaster of emotions!
